Review: Doyusha 1/144 Macross Plus VF19, VF19A, YF21

Doyusha released a collection of wonderful die-cast replicas from the Macross franchise around 2002, the items in the series include the VF19, VF19A, YF21, VF1A, VF1S...Each are elegantly presented in a jewel box and featured high degree of metal content with nice panel details all around. They however, do not transform.

I got the two VF19 from a local toy store, and the YF21 was purchased on eBay. They originally retailed for 2980 yen.

Only the wings, directional fins, canopy and the landing gears are in plastic, the rest is pretty much all die-cast. This was my first purchase in this series.

Again, only the wings, the fins and the land gears on the YF21 are made of plastic. They do feel like little treasures on your hand.

The VF19 has sweeping wings while the YF21 has folding wings for storage.

The Kaiyodo Revoltech VF19 is roughly in the same scale, and they look pretty decent being displyed together.

Finally, it's my favorite fighter in the Macross universe...although, the VF25 is trying very hard to snatch that title from it. Look for a review of Yamato VF19 and Bandai VF25 in the near future.
