News: Fewture/Art Storm Energer 1969 Mazinger Z

Big News at Art Storm, Apparently coming in March 2011 will be this gorgeous Energer 1969 Mazinger Z. When I saw the first pic, I thought I was looking at a Crossbone Gundam Head...Anyway, this one looks to be another winner, I really like the edgy look.

In contrast, Bandai's most recent red Energer Z is really having a lot of trouble attracting collector interest, I have seen it gone on sale at most retailers...

Given the recent delay in many Artstorm products, I wouldn't swear by the release date of Mar 2011.

News: Mazinger Z design sketches

Bandai created a series named designer corner in the Tamashii website to promote the soul of chogokin Shin Mazinger Z product line and the anime series.  These are the latest updates from that series.

I always have a soft spot for these design line drawings, to me, you can see the original interpretations that the designer had intended.  Quite fascinating...

BTW, I cancelled my preorder for GX49, Mazinger Z with God Scrander.  In the Sep issue of Dengeki magazine, the unpainted pictures show that only half of the upper torso, the lower torso, the upper arms and the thighs are metal, the rest are plastic.  I figured, if I wanted so much plastic, I would have ordered the plastic model version and saved a boatload of money.  No thanks, I love the GX-45.

News: Tokyo Toy Show 2009 - Shin Mazinger Z

The new Shin Mazinger Z with God Scrander plastic kit. I wonder what the half body big scale Mazinger Z is? May be a storage unit for mini figures like the Gundam unit from a few years ago?

News: Tokyo Toy Show 2009 - SOC Combattler V, Energy Z, Getta Dragon

New entries in the Soul of Chogokin lineup, GX-50 Combattler V, GX-51 Getta Dragon, GX-47 Energy Z.

GX-50 Combattler V renew version. Just looking at these pictures, the overall shape is not a whole lot different from the GX-03 version, I guess until side-by-side pictures show up, it will be hard to gauge where the proportions differ. This new version is supposed to have top-notch mobility (like the new Mazinger Z) and comes with the additional weapons and effects parts. 17800 yen, December.

GX-47 Energy Z, the prototype to Mazinger Z in the anime. This new color scheme is strangely attractive...6300 yen, August.

GX-51 Getta Dragon from the original OVA. 7500 yen, November.

News: Bandai Mechanical Collection Shin Mazinger Z New Official Pics

Not to be confused with the Soul of Chogokin GX-49, these new official pics are for the August release of Bandai's Mechanical Collection plastic kit, Shin Mazinger Z with God Scrander. Note that the pictures are of a test prototype and may not be final.

News: Bandai Soul of Chogokin Shin Mazinger Z GX-49

Here are some better pictures showing the new God Scrander Shine Mazinger Z, in robot mode and in Big Bang Punch mode. This new item surely "packs a Punch"!

Release in September for 8800 yen. Regular Shin Mazinger Z GX-45, like the one I just bought, costs 6800 yen.

The wings closed up and the jet nozzles on the back rotate forward combining with the arms to form the fingers. I read somewhere that the head has a new design too (to fit the transformation), but don't quote me cause I can't find where I read it.

Review: Soul of Popinica PX-04 Hover Pileder

After missing out on the original Hover Pileder release, there isn't a chance in the world I was going to miss this one...and I wasn't disappointed.

Save for the cockpit parts, some wing bits and the bottom cover, the rest of the Hover Pileder is almost all metal, including the spinning hover blades. This time around, it is painted entirely in red for an elegant look.
I estimated the scale of this to be 1/35, given the Kouji figure stands about 5 cm tall.

What you see is what you get here, as there are no other accessories. On the other hand, Kouji can do some amazing acrobatic poses.

The folding wings work in unison, and the overall presentation is quite well done.
If you are wondering, I gave up trying to put Kouji into the pilot seat, so that's why he is kind of just standing around in these pictures.
Any way, a good piece for the collection for sure. Now I am hoping Bandai will some day add the Star Crow from Starzinger to this line up.
