News: Eva Anima Visual Book

The Anima Visual Book came out in Aug for 2100 yen, it document the evolution of the project, from an idea born out of Dengenki Hobby Magazine, to the production of the Soul of Chogokin Eva Anima.

The book as you can see, also documents concept designs and is very pleasant to look at.

I see submit to you that this is the most beautiful Eva I have seen, and if you can only afford one Eva toy, this Soul of Chogokin is the one to get.
This built up version just looks wrong for some reason, an Eva is supposed to be agile...

I personally think a Cross-Bone or Strike/Dragonar type backpack suits the Eva more than this ass mounted thruster...but that's just me.

News: Upcoming Soul of Chogokin

GA graphics posted some closeups of the Daltanius test model from Tamashii Nation 2010, also included a blue print of Godsigma.

My memory of "Universe Emperor" Godsigma TV show was not very pleasant, I faintly recall at about the midway point, the professor guy what was supposed to be helping the good guys, all of a sudden turned evil.  It was a bit too much of a concept for a kid to understand (way back when...).  Also, the animation was out right crappy, I can draw much better.  Anyhow, looks like someone at Bandai likes it more than me...

My memory of Daltanius on the other hand, was much more positive.  The theme song on the show is one of my all time favorites when it comes to anime theme songs.  I am not sure I buy the new lion design, but hack, I lost my original chogokin as a kid, I owe myself this one.    In fact, I sensed Bandai will be bringing this one back probably since last year, mostly because they are running of licenses and you can only do so many Mazinger.  I will speculate too that Bandai will bring the Starcrow from Starzinger back.  You just watch...I am that confident.

News: Ninja Warrior - Flying Shadow

Bandai is a true money making machine with the release of these three handsomely produced sets from the Ninja Warrior series. Each is going to set you back from 8000 to 9000 yen. Personally, I am only considering GX 56 if there is still room in the house...

Soul of Chogokin GX 56 - Sea Devil Fierce Dragon

Soul of Chogokin GX 55 - Aerial Devil Thunder Phoenix

Soul of Chogokin GX 54 - Land Devil Black Lion

News: Soul of Chogokin Andromeda

The most exciting news from the Toyko Hobby Show 2010 on a personal level is probably the announcement of the pending release of Soul of Chogokin GX-58 Andromeda from the Space Cruiser Yamato franchise. Only the test model is shown but it looks rather promising.

The item will be in the same scale as the recently announced Soul of Chogokin Yamato renewal version, which measures about 425 mm.

The price is hefty, but I quite like the look on both of them, especially the double wave cannon on the Andromeda...

News: Bandai Chogokin Space Shuttle Endeavor

Coming this Dec is the ultra cool Space shuttle chogokin from Bandai, if it's not for the list price of 45000 yen, I bet it will be on many people's Christmas Wish list.

Review: Chogokin Super Anima Eva First Impression

Just got this in the mail yesterday, it came in a nice transparent package, I am so very impressed with the product that I just have to throw this preview together even if it's hastily done.

First off, the figure is really well painted, it feels somewhat like a coldcast item. Secondly, this thing is huge, it should be similar in size as Bandai's LMHG Eva released some years ago, and as you can see, it's much taller than our MG ver. ka. Most surprisingly, this thing has pretty good weight to it, nice! The box also proudly proclaimed 'Chogokin', and it just feels right. For the record, this weighs about the same as the GFF Metal Composite Unicorn Gundam (which I also just received).

A more in-depth review of both items will come very soon...
